I remember a morning when I was teaching, it was the first day of school and one of the parents innocently asked me when my baby was due.
Well… I was 50 at the time and I was mortified (it could have been taken as a compliment I guess?!).
That woman’s comment indicated that my stomach was very bloated, distended, and uncomfortable. I was one of over 60 million people suffering from irritable bowel disease.
I needed a solution and I wasted 1000’s of dollars searching for it. Finally, I realized that in order to get the clarity, confidence, and relief I was looking for, I had to do it myself.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a serious health concern and like most health issues, it’s big business.
IBS can be a perplexing condition and popular medications such as antacids, and anti-diarrhea medications do not address the root cause of the condition, only the symptoms.
If you experience gas, constipation, diarrhea, cramping, distention or bloating, and are pretty happy to have a bathroom nearby, chances are pretty good that you do have irritable bowel syndrome, and your quality of life will be improved if you address it properly.
IBS is what got me started as a holistic nutritionist because I saw first hand how challenging it was to find a solution, the life-altering transformation that is needed. Over the past 15 years, I have helped hundreds of people with my highly effective approach to reversing irritable bowel syndrome.
A Case Study in Irritable Bowel Syndrome
My client Diane was suffering from fatigue, depression, and anxiety as well as debilitating digestive problems, she had diarrhea one day and was constipated the next.
She had discomfort and as well as what she described as ‘The Big Bloat’. Her symptoms seemed to appear out of nowhere and she felt like a balloon was blowing up in her belly.
Diane was mystified and afraid to eat anything because it didn’t ‘t seem to matter, the symptoms seemed to appear out of nowhere.
These uncomfortable and embarrassing symptoms had serious implications for Diane both personally and professionally. She found she was self-conscious and avoided engaging intimately or socially with people as she couldn’t predict when an IBS attack would occur, and people had commented on her distended belly.
Professionally Diane was in a leadership position, and her career included speaking in front of audiences both large and small. Personally she had a partner who she wanted to be close to in every way.
Diane had tried many over the counter remedies as well as prescribed medications from her doctor, but nothing worked.
As a holistic nutritionist, I knew we needed to approach Diane as a whole system organism, body, mind and spirit all play a role in this condition. She needed to transform this condition so she could to have the quality of life she wanted and deserved.
We began the work of eliminating triggering and irritating foods and as we got clear as to what her triggers were, I created a meal plan that nourished, supported, and soothed the digestive tract and cut down dramatically on Diane’s IBS incidents.
Supplements also play an important role in IBS as it is a symptom of leaky gut–meaning nutrients from food aren’t absorbed. The personal supplement protocol I chose for Diane are bio-available, easily absorbed and get right to the level of the cell to nourish, protect and renew health. IBS requires a specific nutritional approach to ensure nutrients are absorbed and healing can occur.

Before too long Diane was confident, healthy and happy. She enjoyed more energy and she enjoyed engaging fully with her partner, relaxing in social situations, and she advanced in her leadership and public speaking career.
Irritable bowel syndrome is a very serious condition being linked to leaky gut/dysbiosis, autoimmune disease, anxiety, mental health conditions, ADHD, dementia and more. IBS must be healed.
I suffered for years with IBS and all the acid reflux, heartburn, diarrhea and constipation treatments in the world wouldn’t have helped. It was when I addressed the root causes of the IBS that I experienced genuine relief and healing.
Having been called psychosomatic, IBS can be triggered from foods, nerves, anxiety and most doctors are unable to treat it, but prescribe medications such as antacids, antispasmodics, and even anti-depressants to address it. These don’t work.
