Patience is not about sitting and waiting, it is foreseeing.
It is looking at the thorn and seeing the rose, looking at the night and seeing the day. Lovers are patient and know that the moon needs time to become full. ~Rumi
Some things in life can be tough to wait for. The first spring flowers, a birthday (if your under age 21!), dinner with a friend; you know the things you get excited about, really look forward to, can hardly wait for!
Sometimes it also may seem that time goes too slowly.
Going about your day you may notice that there are times when things may take a little longer than anticipated, or not go the way you had intended.
I used to brace myself for the line up at the cashier. I have discovered that waiting is a gift of space and time.
Ahhh…time to breath and relax before embarking on my next task. By simply focusing on your breath, noticing it coming in and out of your body is a natural relaxant. It centres and grounds you allowing you to be fully present on this moment. Waiting becomes a meditative moment.
Thich Nhat Hanh has a beautiful gatha,
Breathing in I calm my body, breathing out I smile…
This lovely verse is enough to bring me Home.
Over to you, next time you are at a stop light, waiting in a line up or experiencing a delay of some sort, just breathe and enjoy the break.
Waiting provides you with the gift of the perfect spring flower, a beautiful new baby, or simply a moment to yourself.
I’d love to hear about your experiences with the gift of time and patience, please share with me, here.
